Kyler Murray will be grabbing some bench this week.
The Vikings announced that they are starting Carson Wentz on Monday against the Buffalo Bills, with Murray dealing with a sore hamstring.
Minnesota is calling Murray “week to week” with the injury, though many had believed that a benching could come just as a result of poor performance after the Vikings dropped their first game of the season in Detroit on Sunday.

Murray has put up pedestrian numbers behind a talented Vikings squad that has plenty of weapons around him, with a 64.9 percent completion rate (worst since his rookie year), and his 86.6 quarterback rating (worst of his career).
The former No. 1 overall pick is also not running as much as he once did, as this is the longest he’s gone in an NFL season without a rushing touchdown.
In his second year, Murray ran for 819 yards and 11 touchdowns but has just 167 yards in six games in 2026.
Wentz steps in, having thrown a pass in two games for the Vikings this year, as he previously led a furious comeback in the first game of the season against the Packers.

In Week 1, Wentz went for 133 yards and three passing touchdowns in the fourth quarter alone in a wild comeback victory.
There had also been rumors that the Vikings were going to be active in the trade market for a quarterback, as star receiver Justin Jefferson has just 335 receiving yards this season.
He is not on pace for 1,000 yards for the first time in his NFL career.
