Jack Campbell was taken to a local hospital after he suffered a serious neck injury early in the fourth quarter of the Lions’ win over the Vikings.

The All-Pro linebacker lay motionless on the field after tackling Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson in a scary scene while medical personnel raced to assist Campbell.

The Lions announced that Campbell was at a local hospital in Detroit and is being evaluated for a neck injury. Head coach Dan Campbell did not have many details about Campbell’s status after the game.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family,” the Lions coach told reporters. “He’s being taken care of. We don’t have any new information. We’ll keep you updated as this goes, but we’re thinking about him.”

It was an emotional scene on the field as the Lions medical staff tended to Campbell before he was placed on a stretcher and carted off the field to loud cheers from Lions fans.

Campbell was surrounded by teammates as he was loaded on the cart and the Vikings players stood off in the background, wanting to show Campbell some respect while giving the players the needed space.

The Lions linebacker made the tackle along with defensive end Eric O’Neill and after Hockenson was brought down, Campbell looked to be in immediate trouble.

Campbell is in his fourth season in the NFL since he was selected 18th overall by Detroit in the 2023 draft.

He’s started in 52 of the 57 games he’s played in the NFL and has 8.5 sacks in that span.

Campbell is coming off a 2025 season where he was an All-Pro selection and had five sacks and 176 tackles to his name while starting in all 17 games for the Lions.

He was the third Lions defender who had been injured during the win over the Vikings on Sunday.

Pass rusher DJ Wonnum and safety Brian Branch also suffered injuries.

The win was the Lions’ fifth of the season and was the first time in 2026 that the Vikings have suffered a loss.
