An Oregon man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly slaughtering his father, a professor at Ohio’s Oberlin College, and stepmother — as his chilling mugshot was revealed.
Daniel Jones, 32, is accused of gunning down his dad Pipo Nguyen-Duy, 64, and Nguyen-Duy’s wife, Thi Tran Phong, 56, and setting fire to his own car in the university conservatory’s parking lot, according to Cleveland 19.
Jones reportedly set his vehicle ablaze using a wood stove heater equipped with a makeshift chimney poking out of the roof, firefighters said.
Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, cops tracked down Jones.
Afterward, they did a welfare check on his family members, where they found Phong and Nguyen-Duy shot to death on South Pleasant Street, a mile and a half away.
Jones was arrested and remanded to Lorain County Jail on six counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault and one count of tampering with evidence.
Nguyen-Duy’s body was located on the first floor of their Oberlin home, while Phong was discovered in a second-story bedroom, Cleveland 19 reported.
Witness Greg Poirson told Fox 8 that the suspect appeared soaked, disheveled and erratic when he last saw him.
Poirson said Jones leaped out of a neighbor’s car and claimed he was fleeing a cult.
It is not immediately clear if Jones stole that vehicle before setting fire to his own in the conservatory lot.
Inside Jones’ smoldering Toyota hatchback, firefighters found personal items in a cardboard box, including his passport, keys and personal items.
Live ammunition rounds were also recovered from the car.
A sinister mugshot shows Jones’ bloodied face, tattooed head and dark eyes as he smirks into the camera.
Plastered across his forehead is the acronym “EBK” — apparent street slang for the gang “everybody killa.”
At his arraignment Thursday afternoon, Jones appeared catatonic, staring blankly at the floor as the judge addressed him, according to Fox 8.
He slowly turned his head toward the station’s cameraman and flashed a smug, unsettling grin directly into the lens.
