The Longhorns were in full control in the first half of Saturday’s game against Mississippi.

Texas jumped out to a powering 24-3 first half against the No. 7-ranked Rebels, scoring 21 unanswered points to close out the half.

After the Longhorns opened scoring with a 23-yard field goal midway through the first, the Rebels answered back with a 46-yard kick of their own — then it was all Texas on offense.

Arch Manning led the way for Texas, with the junior throwing for 171 yards with a both a passing and rushing touchdown, along with an interception while completing 13 of 19 attempts.

Longhorns wideout Ryan Wingo also had a stellar first half, racking up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown on five receptions.

On the ground, running back Raleek Brown rushed for 48 yards on nine carries, and Michael Terry III ran for a touchdown late in the second quarter.

Texas’ defense was also lockdown, holding Ole Miss scoreless in the second quarter thanks to interceptions by Justin Cryer and Rasheem Biles.

Ole Miss struggled to get anything going on offense, amounting for only 138 total yards in the first half.

QB Trinidad Chambliss threw for just 63 yards on 6 of 18 completions along with the two picks.

Texas’ and Manning’s performance comes as speculation continues to swirl around the signal-caller possibly getting benched following an up-and-down start to the 2026 season.

While speaking on ESPN’s “First Take” Friday, analyst Dan Orlovsky said he thinks Manning should forego next year’s NFL draft and spend another season at a different school.

“I think whatever happens this weekend, cool, I think this relationship is certainly done,” Orlovsky said, according to Awful Announcing.

“I do not believe Arch should go to the NFL. I believe Arch should leave Texas and go to a place that can adamantly develop him as a quarterback, that gives you the ability to play quarterback.”
