Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has been charged with possession of marijuana after a traffic stop in Carmel, Indiana on Oct. 12, according to Fox59.

Richardson was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger, which officers determined had an expired registration that had been assigned to a different vehicle. The officer at the traffic stop reported immediately detecting the “odor of marijuana” when approaching the car.

Richardson admitted that he did smoke marijuana inside the car to avoid doing so in front of his kids and told police there was a small amount of marijuana in his car, according to the arrest report viewed by Fox59.

Police then put Richardson in handcuffs while they searched the vehicle and found a small mason jar believed to contain marijuana and an open bag of THC gummies.

Richardson was issued a citation for the expired registration and agreed to appear in court for his summons. A bench trial is scheduled for Jan. 4, 2027, per court records viewed by The Post.

Richardson was selected fourth overall by Indianapolis in the 2023 NFL Draft after three years at the University of Florida.

He was named the starter by head coach Shane Steichen in his rookie season, but appeared in just four games after suffering a concussion and an AC joint sprain that required surgery.

Richardson also missed multiple games in 2024 due to injuries, and drew criticism when he took himself out of a Week 8 divisional matchup with the Texans, saying he “needed a breather.”

In 2025, Richardson became the backup quarterback after the Colts signed Daniel Jones. The team declined his fifth-year option in April, making him a free agent after the 2026 season.
