Brock Purdy is playing like the best quarterback in football through six weeks of the NFL season.

The 49ers star joined Tom Brady as the only two quarterbacks ever to start a season 6-0 with 15-plus total touchdowns and two or fewer turnovers. Brady did so in 2015 with the Patriots, and just over a decade later, Purdy is doing the same with San Francisco.

In the 49ers’ 23-17 victory over the Commanders on Monday Night Football, Purdy became the highest-rated passer in NFL history (105.6) with at least 1,500 pass attempts and holds the No. 1 spot in several statistical categories at the quarterback position.

On the season, Purdy has tallied 1,460 yards through the air with 14 touchdowns and has added 156 rushing yards with another score. He has thrown two interceptions and has been sacked just five times in 2026.

While Purdy continues putting on the best performance of his career this season, the 49ers quarterback credited the defense for carrying the team in its sixth straight victory.

“Obviously, offensively and for myself in the second half, it’s tough just to do what we did. Three-and-outs and there were some plays where I could have been better getting the ball out and what not instead of taking some sacks,” Purdy said postgame.

“For our defense to do what they did at the end, that was really impressive.”

The 49ers remain unscathed this year, earning a 6-0 record with a win over Washington. Despite dealing with a flurry of injuries, as seems to always be the case with San Francisco, Purdy’s play has propelled the 49ers to one of the most dynamic offenses in the league.
