Chipping remarks turned a chippy conversation into a sucker punch.

Bills pass rusher Bradley Chubb alleged that he chirped Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson about chipping techniques, which led to Jackson clocking Chubb with his right hand after Monday’s game.

Jackson initially received a two-game suspension that has since been sliced to one contest.

“I’ll tell you exactly what I said,” Chubb said Wednesday. “I’ve heard I was talking about his mom and different things, that’s not true at all. I went up to him, I said, ‘We’re gonna see y’all’s ass again. And when we see ya’ll again, that chipping ain’t gonna save you, that tight end, that guard is not going to save you.’

“He said, ‘What’d you say?’ He walked up on me. I said, ‘Like I said,’ I put my hand in his face, ‘That chip’s not gonna save you. The guard’s not gonna save you.’ And then boom.”

After the Bills escaped SoFi Stadium with a 37-34 overtime win Monday, ESPN captured Jackson exchanging jerseys with Bills defensive lineman Deone Walker while Chubb chirped him from a distance.

Chubb — who admitted to starting the conversation — turned his back to Jackson, who then walked toward him before the two came face-to-face at the midfield logo.

Jackson then whacked Chubb with his right hand, knocking the latter’s hat right off his head before being separated by a teammate.

Chubb’s chipping remarks refer to the technique in which a skill player will bump a defender during a play to slow them down during a pass rush, which helps with offensive line protection.

The veteran logged two total tackles in the contest.

He also accused the Rams of “front running” when they thought they were going to win before the Bills blocked their potential game-winning field goal attempt in overtime.

After being hit, Chubb said he thought of his situation and the team needs.

“They brought me here to play and to be a leader,” he said. “I felt like if I would have reacted, if I would have done anything in both of those situations, like I’m not doing what they brought me here to do.

“We’re going to learn from it. Me personally, I’m going to learn have my hands up or wear a helmet, one of the two. It’s a growing moment for all of us, everybody in this building.”

Chubb believes there’s a chance that he and Jackson will cross paths again, and noted that he has yet to hear from the offensive lineman.

“Like I told him, ‘We’re going to see ya’ll again.’ And how do we see them again? In the Super Bowl,” Chubb said. “That’s one of our goals as a team is to get to that.”
