The Mets have three players in contention for gold.

Carson Benge, Luis Torrens and Nolan McLean were named as Gold Glove finalists Wednesday, giving the Mets three shots at ending a drought that extends to 2014 with the award.

The rookie Benge impressed with his arm, highlighted by an August game against the Padres in which he threw out runners at the plate on consecutive plays in the same inning.

Benge led NL right fielders with 10 assists this season.

Torrens, widely regarded among the game’s premier defensive catchers, was a finalist last year for a Gold Glove.

He had another strong season behind the plate, throwing out 33 percent of the runners attempting to steal against him. He finished plus-4 in caught stealing above average, according to Statcast, placing him in MLB’s 89th percentile. He was plus-5 in blocks, which placed in the 85th percentile.

McLean uses his agility to execute plays defensively. He committed only one error in his 31 starts this season.

Juan Lagares, in center field, was the last Mets player to win a Gold Glove.

The Mets have never had a catcher win the award, while Ron Darling (1989) is the only pitcher in franchise history to have won it.
