Nick Bosa is determined to return to the 49ers by Week 6.
The 49ers star is set to miss his third consecutive game with a calf injury as San Francisco takes on the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks on Sunday.
Bosa believes his chances of playing in the 49ers’ next home game on Oct. 19 against the Commanders is “pretty darn likely.” If that dream scenario doesn’t work out, Bosa could play the following week against the Falcons on Oct. 25.
Two weeks ago, Bosa strained his calf while warming up for practice. Until a few days ago, Bosa hadn’t participated in 49ers practices but started improving.
The defensive end will not travel with the 49ers to Seattle this week as he plans to stay in the Bay Area and work out with the intent of returning to practice next week. Bosa is still looking to collect his first sack of the season, but the 49ers’ coaching staff was impressed with his play through the first two games of the season.
Mike Evans injury update
Bosa isn’t the only 49ers star dealing with injury. Mike Evans sustained a rib injury against the Cardinals in Week 3.
Despite having broken ribs, Evans unexpectedly played last week against the Broncos. General manager John Lynch said he told Evans that doctors relayed he would be able to return for Week 5 against the Seahawks, but the veteran wide receiver insisted on suiting up versus Denver.
Evans, who did not participate in Thursday’s practice, was limited Friday.
Against the Broncos, Evans posted 76 yards on five receptions while playing through injury. No one would blame the wideout for missing Week 5, though the matchup is arguably one of the most important games of the season for the undefeated 49ers.
