Student bullied before fatal jump from LA high school, video shows

Chilling video shows the seconds before a teen jumped to his death off the fourth floor of a Los Angeles high school on Wednesday — and the terrible bullying he endured.

The video shows the teen in a Benjamin Franklin High School classroom in Highland Park before he died. Another teen boy is seen goading him into a fight and then punching the victim in the face.

He falls down and is seen running out of the classroom. The attacker can be heard on the video saying, “Run, n—a — run.” Another video seconds later showed the teen throwing himself off a railing.

The fall was fatal and was reported around 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

An ambulance rushed the teen to the hospital but he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the teen or the suspected bully has not been released.

A horrified witness described what happened at the school.

“I hear stuff rumbling, falling, and I look up and I see kids fighting. I see a kid getting hurt pretty bad… [he] throws himself over the fourth floor,” a witness told FOX 11.

In an email sent to parents on Wednesday, Principal Marine Davtyan stated: “The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff continues to be our top priority. A medical emergency has required our school to go into a ‘lockdown.’”

School officials also said “mental health professionals and support staff will be available throughout the day” Thursday “to provide counseling, support, and a safe space for students who may wish to talk.”

The LAPD has not released the student’s name or age, and no formal charges against the aggressor have been announced so far. All campus gates will remain closed until law enforcement authorizes the school to reopen.
