Get ready for a soggy start to October. Tropical moisture from the Pacific, Caribbean and Gulf of America will combine to bring repeated rounds of heavy rain across parts of the East beginning Friday.

As an upper-level trough pulls that moisture farther inland, the setup is expected to fuel days of showers and thunderstorms.

The FOX Forecast Center says the pattern could produce a week-long flood threat, with multiple rounds of heavy rain increasing the risk of flash flooding in some areas.

As the surge in moisture climbs north, it will run into a wall of high pressure, creating a renewed dynamic rain event.

“The highest rain totals through Monday will be across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia, where a widespread 2-3 inches is likely,” said the FOX Forecast Center. “Totals of 3-5 inches or more are most likely across southern Louisiana and Mississippi.”

This sort of severe weather shift will put millions of Americans in the path of tropical downpours this weekend.

Stretching from the Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley and potentially the Northeast, increasing the risk of flash flooding.

In light of the growing weather trend, a level 2 out of 4 flash flood risk is in place for Saturday and Sunday across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Popular locations such as New Orleans and Atlanta could see around 3 to 5 inches of rain.

Luckily for residents in the Northeast, dry weather conditions will persist after nasty nor’easter conditions last week, as a high-pressure system keeps most of the rain in the Southern U.S.

Heavy rain is expected to drench millions of Americans in the East, fueling a dangerous flood threat.

According to the FOX Forecast Center, the best odds for showers for areas affected by the recent nor’easter will be on Sunday.

Locations in the Northeast such as Annapolis, Maryland, are under a Coastal Flood Advisory as storms begin to develop.

The rich moisture hovering over the East will likely remain across the region into early next week as a large plume of moisture spills north from the Gulf.
