A Long Island high school promised Tuesday to discipline a handful of students who taunted a rival football team by flashing crude signs with their girlfriends’ pictures, names and tasteless messages.

Sachem School District Superintendent Patti Trombetta apologized for the incident at Friday’s game against William Floyd, when a handful of students held sickening signs in the audience, including a poster that showed a player and his girlfriend and asked who was “easier to score on.”

Another sign read that they wanted to “touchdown” on one of the opposing player’s girlfriends.

“The messages shown do not align with the respect and sportsmanship we expect from our student body, and this behavior will not be tolerated,” Trombetta said in a letter to parents.

“It is our responsibility to support our students while holding them accountable for their actions and helping them understand the impact of their choices,” he added. “As a Sachem community, we sincerely apologize to the William Floyd community for any hurt caused.”

The district said that security workers at the game, which Sachem won 35-13, confiscated the signs from the teens once they were spotted.

The tasteless signs shown in a student section at the field’s far endzone led to a confrontation and scuffle between teens and a girlfriend of one William Floyd player, who was shown on a sign.
She had been spat on by a boy in the group during the ruckus, a relative of hers claimed to The Post.

A source at the Friday night game also said many Sachem students in the section were equally appalled by the signs and tried to confront their peers to put them away earlier in the night.

“Moving forward, we will continue to reinforce the vital importance of sportsmanship, respect, and responsibility,” the superintendent’s letter added.
