The Saints showed in Week 1 that they aren’t afraid to put the ball in Tyler Shough’s hands.

Despite a slow start, Shough attempted a whopping 56 passes against the Lions, throwing for a career-high 410 yards as New Orleans ran 90 offensive plays in its overtime loss.

The Saints’ weapons in the passing game looked much better than advertised in the opener.

Chris Olave looked like his usual self with 10 catches, but Devaughn Vele may be emerging as a solid WR2 after pulling seven passes of his own.

Tight end Juwan Johnson, who became one of Shough’s favorite targets late last season, also added three catches for 54 yards with a touchdown.

That performance from Shough continued an impressive stretch since he took over the starting job last season.

He has now averaged 266.6 passing yards across his 10 career starts, including 287.7 yards per game over his last six.

Another pass-heavy game could be coming against the Ravens in Week 2.

The Ravens scored 41 points in their opener behind Lamar Jackson, who looked as healthy as can be after dealing with injuries last year, and running back Derrick Henry.

New Orleans enters as an underdog, creating the possibility that Shough will once again spend much of the second half throwing while playing from behind.

Baltimore’s defense wasn’t exactly dominant in Week 1, either, even if the raw passing-yardage total allowed was low, allowing 23 points to Daniel Jones, who was returning from an Achilles tear.

If the Ravens jump out in front and force New Orleans away from the run, Shough should have another path to 35-plus attempts and plenty of opportunities to clear his passing-yardage prop.

The play: Tyler Shough Over 231.5 passing yards (-110, FanDuel Sportsbook)
