Sam Darnold doesn’t yet know how many weeks he will be sidelined.

First, the injured Super Bowl-winning quarterback needs to decide how many doctors he wants to see.

After exiting his first game of the season with an apparent hip injury, Darnold has now been diagnosed with a glute injury, though the severity of the issue remains unclear.

“They’re gathering four second opinions to figure out exactly what the timetable will be, and what the plan of attack will be,” Fox’s Jay Glazer said on Sunday. “He’s gonna miss next week, but we have no idea after that.

“Initially, they actually thought he fractured that hip socket, which would have put him out for the year. Instead, there is a tendon injury in the glute. They’re still trying to gather information.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Darnold — who was hurt on the first drive of Seattle’s season-opening win against New England — will “probably [miss] a couple games” but added that the “muscular injury [is] not considered to be major.”

Veteran backup Drew Lock led the Seahawks in Darnold’s absence, going 16-of-22 for 187 yards and one touchdown in the win.

Lock is 10-18 all-time as a starter, including a 1-4 mark with the Giants in 2024.

With Darnold out, Lock’s backup is 23-year-old Jalen Milroe, a former third-round pick out of Alabama.
