Police shot a man on the Brooklyn Bridge after he charged at them with a knife early Friday, according to sources, snarling the morning commute.

Officers had responded to someone in need of help when he suddenly lunged at them, sources said.

It was not immediately clear how serious his injuries were.

The NYPD warned people around 5:45 a.m. to avoid the Brooklyn-bound area of the bridge and to expect delays “due to ongoing police activity.”

Additional information on the incident was not immediately available.
