The new year will bring brand new releases to theatres worldwide and there are plenty of movies to choose from in 2025.

Express Online have collated a round up of the biggest film releases set to take audiences by storm and certainly keep you entertained.

Whether you’re looking for musicals, to superheroes, or animation we have got you covered with the must sees of the year.

While by no means exhaustive, here is a collection of some of the biggest movies to look out for in 2025.

The Michael Jackson biopic will hit theatres in the new year, with the King of Pop’s nephew Jaafar Jackson portraying the late superstar. The 26 year old, son of Jermaine Jackson, said on Twitter that he was “humbled and honored” to bring his uncle’s story to life.

The movie, titled “Michael,” is being made with the cooperation of Jackson’s family and estate, offering “audiences an in-depth portrayal of the man and our brother who became the King of Pop,” said a Jackson family statement in February last year.

It is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on October 3, 2025.

Wicked: For Good

Fans who loved last year’s biggest musical will be pleased to know they have not gone long to wait for part two.

The second installment of the cinematic adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, which in turn was adapted from the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel, has been subtitled “For Good”.

The sequel will catch up with now-estranged friends Elphaba (played by Cynthia Evrio) and Glinda (played by Ariana Grande) as they struggle to find their place in the big and wicked world of Oz.

It is set to be released in cinemas on November 21, 2025.

The highly-anticipated movie will be released in cinemas on July 25.
