A video shared on social media shows a Ukrainian soldier from an air defence unit shooting at a Russian cruise missile with a machine gun.
On December 26, 2024, the official Ministry of Defense of Ukraine shared footage showing a soldier from the 208th Kherson Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force in action.
The footage captures the soldier firing at a Russian cruise missile, followed by a dramatic explosion and the subsequent celebration of nearby troops.
The 208th Kherson Brigade, a key unit of the Ukrainian Air Force, is tasked with air defence operations throughout the Kherson Oblast and is equipped with S-300 missile systems.
The brigade, headquartered in Kherson and subordinated to the Air Command South, has been instrumental in protecting Ukrainian airspace from missile and drone threats.
As the conflict enters its third year, Ukrainian military intelligence reports that North Korean troops stationed in Russia’s Kursk region are facing significant casualties and logistical setbacks from Ukrainian operations, particularly near Novoivanovka.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to deploy a range of cruise missiles and drones in recent strikes targeting Ukrainian infrastructure.
In response, Ukraine has intensified its attacks on key military infrastructure, including a missile propellant plant in Russia’s Rostov region.
President Vladimir Putin has hinted at the potential future deployment of the newly developed Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missiles, which could further escalate tensions in the ongoing war.
