What our Post expert thinks about the Round of 16
Brazil is on the heels dramatic 2-1 win over Japan, highlighted by Gabriel Martinelli’s stoppage-time winner. Vinícius Júnior has now scored in all three group-stage matches under Carlo Ancelotti. Norway has been one of the tournament’s most entertaining teams, with Erling Haaland and Antonio Nusa leading an attack that has helped produce 18 total goals across its four matches.
England’s disciplined defense makes this a difficult matchup for Mexico, which has outperformed its expected-goals numbers through four matches and now faces its toughest opponent of the tournament. With the Three Lions allowing few quality chances and Mexico shifting from favorite to underdog, Mexico’s offense could be in for trouble.
