A career criminal creep busted into a family’s Oregon home while chillingly calling out, “Honey, I’m here,” moments before attempting to rape a mother upstairs while she was holding her baby, according to police.
Judson Defir, 43, allegedly broke into the Portland home in the middle of the day on March 15. He wasted no time bounding up the stairs while booming the shocking line, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Oregon Live.
Upstairs, a mother was cradling her 10-month-old baby while she worked, with her 3-year-old toddler not far behind. Defir allegedly stormed into the room, forced the mother onto the bed, and attempted to rape her in plain view of her children.
In the chaos, the bedraggled meth-head allegedly pinned her to the bed face down while the baby was still in her arms. She eventually convinced Defir to let her place the baby in their crib. When he finally released her, she ran out and used a bookcase to barricade herself in a separate room and screamed for help, the affidavit said.
The woman’s husband, who was doing work in the yard, heard her screams and rushed inside. By then, Defir had fled, but left a trail of destruction in his wake.
Just minutes before bursting into the family’s home, the pervert allegedly entered a nearby church and groped a woman. He fled the scene, then grabbed two other women who were walking in the neighborhood and made his way to the family’s home, according to the Portland Police Department.
“Our thoughts are with the women who experienced these frightening incidents. We are grateful for their courage in coming forward. I also want to recognize the swift and coordinated response of our patrol officers and detectives, whose quick actions helped apprehend the suspect and bring a sense of safety back to the neighborhood,” Portland Police Chief Bob Day said.
Defir denied attacking anyone and bizarrely claimed he “accidentally bumped into” the mother inside her own home, according to the affidavit.
He told police that he smoked meth before heading to a pancake breakfast at the neighborhood’s church that morning.
Defir was arrested that same day and charged with attempted rape, kidnapping, and outstanding warrants. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues, police said.
He was previously arrested for screaming at two young girls at a park and for lying naked in a driveway while intoxicated, according to court records obtained by Oregon Live.
Defir has been arrested more than a dozen times in the last 25 years, including for fourth-degree assault and DUI, the records showed.
He is being held without bail.
