The Knicks got some encouraging news with Miles McBride.
They are listing him as questionable for their game against the Rockets in Houston on Tuesday. They listed the ailment as recovery for core muscle/pelvic surgery — the same as it was when he was out for two months.
McBride had just returned on Sunday during the Knicks loss to the Thunder in Oklahoma City after missing the previous 28 games following surgery to repair a sports hernia.
But he lasted just 11 minutes on the court before appearing to aggravate the injury that had caused him to miss so much time. McBride sustained it while diving for a loose ball and colliding with the Thunder’s Lu Dort.
McBride grabbed at his groin area, was taken out of the game and looked to be in clear discomfort on the bench before limping into the locker room.
That he was not ruled out for Tuesday’s game is reason for optimism.
Before undergoing surgery, McBride had been enjoying a career year — averaging 12.5 points per game and shooting 41.5 percent from 3-point range while also representing one of the Knicks’ best point-of-attack defenders.
The Knicks have seven more games in the regular season for McBride to return before the postseason.
Landry Shamet (right knee contusion) will miss his fifth straight game Tuesday.
Tracy McGrady took his challenge directly to Karl-Anthony Towns.
The Hall of Famer called out Towns on The Post’s “Schein Time” last week, claiming that for the Knicks to get the most out of Towns, “he’s just gotta have the want to” and that “it’s up to KAT to put his stamp on these games.”
McGrady was on hand in Oklahoma City for the Knicks loss to the Thunder as part of NBC’s coverage team. He spoke with Towns on the court ahead of the game.
“We’re talking to him like basketball players and what we want to see out of him,” McGrady said of the interaction. “And what we know he could do on this basketball court.”
