The festive party season is approaching, which means it’s only a matter of time before the invitations start coming in. The Volume Sleeve Midi Dress has been slashed by a whopping 60%, dropping the price from £146 to just £58.40.
Made from viscose in bright poppy red, the dress gives the voluminous 80s silhouette a modern update, keeping the playful puffy sleeves but toning down the ruffles. It has an A-line skirt that falls mid-calf and a feminine V-neckline, lending it a flirty shape. It zips up at the back, but there’s also a belt that ties at the waist in a bow, just like a present.
It’s a perfect statement dress, and can be a great choice for a holiday party, or even Christmas dinner. It’s dressy enough to wear with heels, but could also look very smart with a pair of ballet flats. It could pair well with gold jewellery, and it’s a great way to feel put-together without being too overdressed.
That said, its airy viscose fabric and bright colour also make it a great choice for spring and summer, as it can easily be worn with sandals and a wicker bag.
Most larger sizes are out of stock, but the dress is still in stock between sizes 4 and 14, as well as in size 20, in both regular and petite fits.
Boden shoppers were pleased with the dress. with one saying: “Comfortable fit, lovely fabric and colour, gorgeous style, nice belts, very pleased with quality.”
Another shopper, who got the dress for a wedding, wrote: “I love this dress. It is very flattering. The material is beautifully weighty, so it hangs really well. It’s fully lined, and the sleeves are a lovely feature. I have bought it to wear to a wedding in a couple of weeks. I’ve teamed it with gold sandals and a gold bag, jewellery, and I feel a million dollars in it.”
A third review said the dress is “very striking and comfortable to wear”, adding: “My favourite part of the dress is the skirt, it is cut and hangs so beautifully from full hips, so it is very flattering. The puff sleeves give it a more formal edge.”
However, one shopper was not a fan of the material, remarking they would prefer natural fibres. They said: “This dress would have been wonderful in cotton or linen. As a style and fit, it was fabulous. Even the neckline was right – just the fabric was wrong!”
