Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley were desperate to probe Wes Streeting on whether he would run for leader after the Health Secretary issued a formal statement denying rumours he’s plotting a leadership challenge against Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
However, Good Morning Britain viewers were left issuing the same complaint during the tense interview after Streeting told Reid and Madeley: “What’s happened to me overnight is the most unjustified attack on a faithful since Joe Marler was banished in the final.”
Streeting was referencing the BBC programme, Celebrity Traitors, as were Reid and Madeley in the build-up to the minister’s interview, with viewers lashing out on social media. One person penned: “How many Traitor references do ITV want to drop this morning? It’s embarrassing?”
