Ryanair issues warning of major change happening from Wednesday | Travel News | Travel

Ryanair is reminding holidaymakers of the major change that will take effect from Wednesday, November 12. The popular airline, which deals with more than 207 million passengers a year, is changing how travellers board.

As of tomorrow, customers will no longer be able to use a physical paper boarding pass when travelling on a Ryanair flight, and instead will need to use the digital one generated in the myRyanair app. The fully digital move is part of the airline’s efforts to streamline the customer experience, making it faster and more efficient. Passengers will also be able to utilise additional in-app features from the airline to enhance their overall travel experience.

Dara Brady, Ryanair CMO, said: “From Wednesday, November 12, passengers will no longer be able to download and print a physical paper boarding pass but will instead need to use the digital boarding pass generated in their ‘myRyanair’ app during check-in to board their Ryanair flight.

Ryanair revealed that more than 80% of those who fly with the airline “already use digital boarding passes, and therefore won’t be affected by this progressive change”.

However, for the remaining passengers who prefer to download and print their boarding passes, Ryanair advises them to download the app ahead of time.

The CMO added: “Moving fully digital means a faster, smarter, and greener experience for passengers, whilst also providing easier access to a range of innovative in-app features including ‘Order to Seat’, live flight information and direct updates during disruption.”

The in-app features enable passengers to order food and drinks directly from their phone and receive priority service, as well as get real-time status updates on boarding, gates, and delays. Additionally, they receive instant notifications from Ryanair’s operations centre and real-time alternative flight options during disruptions.

It also holds all of a passenger’s travel documents, providing accessibility “in one convenient place”.

Mr Brady said: “We look forward to delivering an enhanced travel experience for 100% of our customers, streamlined through our best-in-class myRyanair app.”
