Apple iPhone Air’s £144 discount is one of the best prices we’ve seen

Apple fans can save almost £150 on one of the brand’s latest iPhones in the January sales. Shoppers can get the deal on Sky Mobile, where there’s currently £144 off the iPhone Air.

Usually priced at £31 on Sky’s monthly plan, it’s now reduced to £27, one of the best prices we’ve ever seen, even with its £12 upfront cost. The particular deal is for the 256GB model of Apple’s thinnest-ever phone, which launched in September as part of the iPhone 17 range.

It’s available in a choice of four colours: Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White and Space Black. There are some things to keep in mind with Sky Mobile’s iPhone Air deal, mainly that it comes with a 100MB data allowance at no extra cost.

However, this won’t be enough for most people, so shoppers should consider upgrading to a larger data plan ranging from 1GB for £5 to unlimited for £22. Also, the device contract runs for 36 months, with the option to swap to a new phone after 24 months at no extra cost.

Sky’s iPhone Air plan rivals contracts from Mobiles.co.uk, where the same phone comes in at £34.99 per month and £79 upfront, but comes with a 100GB allowance. The retailer will also include a set of free AirPods 4 with certain tariffs, while Amazon offers the phone for £849 (was £999) when buying outright.

Apple unveiled the iPhone Air alongside its new iPhone 17, touting it as the brand’s thinnest and lightest phone ever. It measures just 5.6mm and weighs 165g with a strong titanium frame.

The device boasts a 6.5” Super Retina XDR display toughened with Ceramic Shield on both sides, with Apple’s A19 Pro processor providing the power needed to run even the most demanding tasks smoothly. The Air has an advanced 48MP Fusion camera system, advanced Apple Intelligence features and comes with the new iOS 26 software.

Our Technology Editor David Snelling tested the iPhone Air when it was first unveiled at Apple’s California headquarters and it left him ‘mightily impressed’. He said: “It has to be seen to be believed.

“Open the box, lift it out of the packaging, and you can’t help but be wowed by the Air’s stunning design. This phone is so thin and light that it’s almost impossible to fathom.

“The Ceramic Shield Glass 2 on the back with a matt finish and shiny titanium frame all add to the appeal and also make the phone feel super premium in the hand. Along with its striking looks, the iPhone Air also packs a glorious 6.5-inch ProMotion screen into its shell, which looks bright, clear and packed with detail.

“The 120Hz refresh rate also means scrolling and playing games appear smooth and totally stutter-free. Tucked under its wafer-thin body is the latest A19 Pro chip, the same found in the iPhone 17 Pro, which supplies ludicrous amounts of power.

“[Apple] promises all-day battery life from the Air, and that’s not far from the truth. I’ve been able to squeeze enough power out of it without having to pop it on the charger before bed.”

David added that the iPhone Air, with its 48MP Fusion camera, ‘can’t match the might of the iPhone 17 Pro’s triple camera system.

“If you simply take photos of friends in the pub or your kids playing in the park you won’t be disappointed,” he continued. “But those after the ultimate image experience are definitely better off switching to the Pro models.

“There’s plenty to like about the Air, and it’s definitely one of the most exciting updates in a while. However, there are compromises, and it can’t match its siblings in terms of camera or overall battery life.”
