Best up to 50% off bedding sales including M&S and Dunelm

The new year always has me looking around the house, searching for little ways I can refresh it for the months ahead. While a good clear-out and a proper organise definitely help, January homeware sales offer a much more fun way to treat your space to something new, without breaking the bank. And one of the easiest ways to give the bedroom a lift, without reaching for a tin of paint, is with a new set of bedding. Whether you’re keen to inject some colour into the dull grey days of January, try out new textures, or add an extra cosy layer to see you through the chilly months, a fresh bedding set is a brilliant place to start.

As a shopping editor, I spend a lot of my time tracking deals and sales, watching prices go up and down across the high street. There are plenty of homeware sales happening right now, but some of the strongest discounts I’ve seen are on bedding – particularly at brands like Dunelm, Marks and Spencer and Habitat. Even some more high-end names, including Soho Home and Piglet in Bed, are getting involved, with select bedding sets reduced by up to 50%.

In fact, I’ve spotted several discounts that could save you as much as half price on bedding, with full sets – including pillowcases and duvet covers – from as little as £20 for a double.

One of the biggest bedding trends I noticed last year wasn’t so much about colour or print, but texture – particularly frills and ruffles. From subtle frilled edges to full ruffled finishes, this style adds a touch of romance and softness to the bedroom, looking luxurious without a luxury price tag.

The Dunelm Catherine Lansfield Seersucker Frill bedding set really stood out to me in the sale, especially with shoppers praising its “excellent quality”. The lightly ruched seersucker fabric is finished with ruffled edges around both the pillowcases and duvet cover, giving the bed a light, airy feel.

My personal favourite is the crisp white version, which feels instantly fresh and bright and gives the relaxed, chic look you might expect to find in a five-star hotel. That said, if white isn’t your thing (or you’re worried about marks showing too quickly) it’s also available in grey and pale pink, both of which feel just as calming and easy to style.

The set usually retails for £24 for a single and £32 for a double, but with the current 20% discount, prices drop to £19.20 and £25.60 respectively. It’s also available in king size (reduced from £36 to £28.80) and super king (down from £44 to £35.20).

The bedding has a 175-thread count and is made from a 55% cotton and 45% polyester blend, rather than 100% cotton. However, shoppers say they’re more than happy with how it feels. In one review, a Dunelm shopper said: “Very pretty duvet set, great quality and excellent price. I love it.”

Another added: “This bedding is so beautiful, and my daughter is so pleased with it. It really elevates her bedroom and is soft, breathable and excellent quality.”

The set is machine washable and tumble dryer safe, although Dunelm say it’s best to dry it on a low heat setting.

One shopper said: “Somewhat creased when it arrived, but looked good when fitted.”

Thankfully, the bedding can be ironed on a low heat if needed, making it easy to keep looking fresh.

Another seersucker set that caught my attention is this gingham design from Habitat. The beauty of seersucker is that it adds a subtle layer of texture without feeling too bold or overly feminine, and the gingham pattern brings in just the right amount of colour without overwhelming the space. It’s the kind of bedding that quietly lifts a room rather than shouting for attention.

Green is a bit of a go-to in my own home, largely because it has that effortless ability to make a space feel calmer and more connected to the outdoors. It’s also what Tash Bradley, Lick’s director of interior design, refers to as a “nature’s neutral”. Speaking previously to Express.co.uk, she said: “People love it, and it’s also what I call ‘nature’s neutral’. It’s always going to work. It pretty much goes in pairs with every other colour. It’s such a lovely, safe option when people are a bit nervous to bring colour into their homes. Green is just honestly where I guide people to go towards.”

If you’re already daydreaming about brighter days and longer afternoons, the gingham pattern also has a charming picnic-blanket feel that hints at spring without being too seasonal.

The bedding set comes in three sizes – single, double and king size – all of which are currently on sale and priced under £20, which is quite the steal. The single is reduced from £22 to £14.65, the double from £24 to £15.98, and the king from £28 to £18.64.

With a 4.6-star rating on Habitat, the low price certainly doesn’t seem to reflect low quality. One shopper who purchased the set recently said: “Excellent value! Habitat is great value for bedding! This is a fresh design and a good weight for this time of year.”

Another added: “Gorgeous bedding set – beautiful quality and lovely colour!”

If you’re after something a little bit different that still has an expensive look, while also keeping you that bit warmer through the winter months, Marks and Spencer has discounted a fleece bedding set that shoppers describe as “really soft and cosy”. Available in two colourways, dark green and cream, the set is made from a soft fleece material with a ribbed cord finish. It’s a great way to introduce texture to your bedding without it feeling overwhelming.

Personally, I’m drawn to the darker green for the warmth and depth it can bring to a room during the colder months. But, both dark green and cream are neutral enough to work with a wide range of interior styles, whether your bedroom leans towards modern, classic, or somewhere in between.

The bedding is currently on sale for 20% off in all sizes. The single set is down from £25 to £20, and the double set is down from £35 to £28. The king-size set is down from £45 to £36, and, finally, the super king-size is reduced from £55 to £44.  

Shoppers have been particularly complimentary about how the bedding feels. One said: “Beautiful bedding! Really soft and cosy, and looks good quality for the winter season. Good price as bought on offer – going to purchase another. Excellent buy.”

Another added: “So good I bought another set. It’s like sleeping in a cloud. Soooo warm and soft. Really good quality and lovely rich cream colour. Really pleased!”

It’s worth noting that the bedding is made from 100% polyester, which may be a downside for some. However, this hasn’t seemed to deter shoppers, with the set achieving an overall customer satisfaction score of five stars from 18 reviews.

According to Marks and Spencer, the bedding can be washed at 40C and is suitable for tumble drying on a low heat. It isn’t suitable for ironing, although shoppers say that’s not an issue, with one noting: “So easy to wash and dry and zero ironing.”

Now, if you’re looking for real longevity from your bedding, investing in the right set can make all the difference. Piglet in Bed’s bedding is undeniably a splurge – a big splurge – with some sets carrying an RRP of over £200 at full price. That said, they’re known for using quality materials that feel just as good as they look, and are designed to stand the test of time without bobbling or fading. In fact, some shoppers have gone as far as calling it “the best bedding”.

If Piglet in Bed has been on your wishlist but the price has always felt like a stretch, the January sale could be the moment to take the plunge. Alongside 50% discounts on some of their pillowcase sets, there are also solid savings on bedding bundles, which include pillowcases, a fitted sheet and a flat sheet. One of my favourites in the current sale is the red Pembroke stripe linen blend sheet set, reduced from £217 to £185 for the single set, or £225 down from £267 for the double.

Yes, it’s still an investment, but the set is made from natural fibres, with a blend of 55% European linen and 45% long staple cotton. The brand says the fabric is naturally breathable, hard-wearing, and free from harmful chemicals and dyes.

I’m particularly drawn to the sandstone and red colour combination, which is the perfect shade for adding warmth during the colder months. Stripes are also an interior trend that shows no signs of going anywhere, bringing a playful yet contemporary feel to a room.
