Some pub classics have stood the test of time — think fish and chips or a Sunday roast — but many dishes have faded into obscurity, rarely seen on menus today. As gastropubs grow ever more popular, the rise of burgers, pizzas, curries, and small plates has slowly edged out some of Britain’s best-loved favourites.

From steaming pies and rich gravies to plates piled high with potatoes, these forgotten dishes deserve a trip down memory lane. Here are 17 classic British pub dishes that are sure to spark nostalgia.
