Sky users given 24-hour countdown to watch TV for free – don’t miss out

It’s incredibly rare to get something for nothing, but that’s exactly what Sky is dishing out right now. The telly firm has been running a promotion for the past week, offering some customers a huge content boost for free. This upgrade is available to anyone who currently has a basic Essential TV package with the company.

If that’s you, there’s good news, as you can now get 35 premium channels without paying a penny extra. That’s thanks to all Essential users getting upgraded to the more content-packed Sky Ultimate TV option.

This unlocks extra channels, including Sky Max, Sky Crime, Sky Documentaries, Sky Showcase, U&Gold, and Comedy Central.

Shows available on these channels include the final series of Brassic, BAFTA-winning Mr Bigstuff, new mockumentary The Paper, The Office, as well as FBI and Fire Country.

It’s a nice boost with Sky announcing that no action is required, as all Sky Essential TV customers will get instant access to Sky Ultimate TV.

The only thing to note is that the freebie ends tomorrow, October 16.

“From 10–16 October, Sky Essential TV customers can access Sky Ultimate TV at no extra cost,” Sky confirmed.

If you tune in tonight and tomorrow and like what you see, Sky is offering the chance to upgrade from Essential to Ultimate TV and pay just £3 extra a month.

News of this offer ending comes as one new Sky rival has also just announced a major boost. Freely, has confirmed that 10 extra channels will be launching next month and all will be available to view without a monthly subscription.

The update will include news, sports, movies and entertainment.

For those not in the know, Freely is very similar to Sky Glass, with users getting their fix of shows and entertainment via a web connection rather than an aerial.

During its launch last year, there were around 30 live channels available, but that will soon grow to over 65. To tune in, you will need a Freely-powered telly, but a new set-top box should also launch soon that will allow any TV to access this service.

Freely TVs are available from stores such as Argos for as little as £99.
