Sarah Ferguson will be “plotting her next move” after hiding away following her latest scandal, the author of a bombshell royal book has said. Sarah, Duchess of York, 66, is celebrating her birthday today just weeks after being involved in a scandal surrounding her previous association with the late convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.
This scandal came about after it emerged Sarah had emailed Epstein in 2011 after he had been released from prison for child sex offences. The email saw Sarah call Epstein her “supreme” friend as she apologised for criticising him in a media interview.
However, while a spokesperson for the Duchess has claimed Sarah only sent the email out of fear she would be sued by Epstein for defamation, the consequences of the scandal have been brutal for the Duchess.
As well as being dropped as patron of a number of charities, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife has also faced a massive drop in popularity as a result of the scandal.
While this may mean her birthday today isn’t as upbeat as usual, a royal biographer believes she will still be celebrating, and will already be planning her next move on the public stage.
Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, told Express.co.uk: “The Duchess still has lots of loyal friends and I’m sure she will be spending it (her birthday) with them and her family.
“She has always celebrated her birthday pretty extravagantly. However, she must be aware her nine lives are running out.”
He continued: “She has lost the trust of the public, her readers and the charities with whom she was involved and it will be difficult to regain that.
“She will be plotting her next move. She is like Lazarus.”
In the Bible, Lazarus is the brother of Mary and Martha, who was raised from the dead by Jesus.
Sarah Ferguson has kept a low profile since the scandal emerged. It is not known whether she will see her daughters Princess Eugenie or Princess Beatrice today.
