Packs of crisps have been recalled over concerns that they could trigger symptoms in people with allergies. Food wholesaler Booker issued a notice for packs of Jack’s Mature Cheddar and Red Onion Crisps which contain milk not mentioned on the product label.
A notice issued by the Food Standards Agency said: “This product contains milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not eat it.
“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
The recall applies to 120g packs of the crisps with a best before date of January 17, 2026.
Around one in 50 babies suffer from allergies to cow’s milk, although most outgrow it during childhood.
Up to one in 10 adults is thought to be lactose intolerant, meaning their body cannot digest the sugar found in milk products.
Symptoms of a milk allergy include hives, swelling, vomiting, and breathing difficulties, which typically occur within a few minutes of consumption.
A notice issued by Booker Retail Partners added: “If you have a milk allergy, do not consume this product.”
The recall comes days after a similar notice was issued for certain packs of One Stop Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps.
