Meghan Markle has been overtly dropping clues as to how she plans to develop her brand, As Ever. The Duchess of Sussex’s latest appearance at the Balenciaga show for Paris Fashion Week suggests something more strategic, that she may be laying the groundwork for her most exciting venture yet – a dedicated fashion line.
Most recently stepping out in an all-white oversized ensemble to support Italian designer and long-time friend Pierpaolo Piccioli, if Meghan did explore fashion or a collaboration, she looks likely to align her signature minimalist aesthetic with her brand values. The monochrome outfit worn during Paris Fashion Week was surprisingly praised by former editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, who told Meghan she looked “amazing”.
The one-tone ensemble also mimicked the trends sported by the Duchess of Sussex on her Netflix show, ‘With Love, Meghan’, dropping further hints of the style she could sell to fans.
Hollywood’s Mindy Kaling, who appeared on series one, episode two, ‘Welcome to the Party’ of With Love, Meghan, gushed over her style. Mindy said: “Your fashion is like, one of my favourite things. Sometimes, I will look like, ‘Where’s that coat from?’ go to maxmara.com, and it’s already sold out.”
“I like high-low”, the Duchess of Sussex replied, pointing out that her trousers were from Zara, her shirt from Italian luxury brand Loro Piana, and her jumper by Californian designer Jenni Kayne.
By mixing high-end brands with more affordable high street items, Meghan’s style has often been seen as relatable and easy-to-wear for fans who want to throw on an outfit for an everyday look.
There has also been a noticeable increase in the Duchess spotlighting female-founded brands, which she also did as a working royal, a nod perhaps to the type of collaborators she might one day partner with or elevate under her own label.
Meghan aimed to uplift other businesses too, supporting humanitarian causes, such as Outland Denim, by wearing their products and, in turn, causing increased sales and global interest.
Furthermore, in her June 2025 interview with Emma Grede, Meghan Markle also stated that people naturally thought she would go into the fashion or beauty industries after leaving royal life in 2020.
She told the host: “I do believe it was probably more obvious to a lot of people that I would get into fashion or beauty. That seemed like the natural inclination. But that’s not what I was sitting around doing every day.”
Meghan then turns the conversation to “her real passion” in the kitchen, making jams, and felt her calling was something that resonated with her heart, home and garden.
Meghan Markle may not be a working royal, but her every move still sparks conversation, and lately, those moves are pointing towards a future in fashion. I believe the question isn’t if she is starting a fashion brand, but when, and particularly for those who want an everyday, Californian, laid-back, casual style, this is the box Meghan could tick.
