Lee Anderson rips apart Sadiq Khan in brutal 8-word slap down | Politics | News

Lee Anderson has shot down Sir Sadiq Khan after the Mayor of London issued a statement condemning the Unite the Kingdom march in the capital that took place on Saturday. It is thought that up to 150,000 people attended the event, with some accused of attacking police officers. Far-right activist Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, attended, and Elon Musk appeared virtually. Sir Sadiq said on X yesterday: “We must unite against those who seek to divide us.”

He added: “I know many people, particularly from London’s diverse communities, are feeling extremely worried following the events this weekend. “It takes me back to how I felt growing up in the ’70s and ’80s, when far-right political parties marched on our streets. The leaders of the far-right are once again attempting to hijack our flag, with minorities being intimidated and fear, hatred and division being sown. “As Londoners, and as proud Brits, we must unite to reject the far-right – just as we have many times before.”

“But it’s going to take a huge effort from us all – from people of all races and backgrounds, who are willing to stand up for our British values of equality, inclusion and mutual respect.”

The Mayor said he will continue to do everything he can to “challenge the far-right and all those who peddle the politics of fear and division”, and urged other politicians and Londoners to do the same.

Mr Anderson quoted Sir Sadiq’s post and wrote that Brits should unite against him.

He added: “Your appalling track record in London is shameful.”

The Reform UK MP then told the Mayor to “just go away”.

Some 26 police officers were injured during the march, including four who were seriously hurt, and 24 people were arrested on suspicion of a range of offences, including affray, violent disorder, assault, and criminal damage.

Speaking at Cabinet on Tuesday, Sir Keir Starmer condemned the violence faced by police officers on duty.

He also said “we are in the fight of our times between patriotic national renewal and decline and toxic division” following a march led by “convicted criminal” Yaxley-Lennon.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman added: “He said the Government must heed the patriotic call for national renewal. This fight has to be won.”
