Netflix’s latest romantic novel adaptation has finally unveiled its leading pair, and their on-screen chemistry is described as ‘electric’.
The streaming giant has just announced the actors who will take centre stage in People We Meet on Vacation, and when film enthusiasts can catch the movie.
On X, previously known as Twitter, Netflix posted sneak-peek images of the production, with the caption: “Meet Poppy and Alex. PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth is yours on January 9.”
Cinema buffs may recognise Blyth from his recent portrayal of Coriolanus Snow in the screen adaptation of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Conversely, Bader is most recognised for her role in Prime Video’s period drama My Lady Jane, alongside Edward Bluemel, reports the Mirror.
For those not acquainted with the upcoming rom-com, People We Meet on Vacation is based on Emily Henry’s bestselling book of the same title.
It follows the unlikely friendship between Poppy (Bader) and Alex (Blyth), who spend every summer holiday together. Their bond is challenged when they start to question if they could be an ideal romantic couple.
Like all of Henry’s novels, this one has garnered a dedicated fanbase since its release in 2021. Therefore, fans are eager to see if Bader and Blyth can replicate the beloved characters’ chemistry.
To offer some reassurance, the author herself is confident about this casting choice. “I’ve been kind of an anxious wreck about who would play these characters,” Henry confessed to Netflix.
She went on to say: “I truly could not feel more confident that my readers and then so many more people who don’t even know about the book are going to completely fall in love with Poppy and Alex.”
The film’s director, Brett Haley, is equally positive about the main pair. “Emily and Tom’s chemistry is electric,” he stated.
“They capture that opposites-attract dynamic in a way that feels effortless and true.”
The cast also includes Sarah Catherine Hook (The White Lotus), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Lucien Laviscount (Emily in Paris), and Lukas Gage (Overcompensating).
Joining them are Miles Heizer (13 Reasons Why), Tommy Do (The Four Seasons), Alice Lee (The Union), Alan Ruck (Succession), and Molly Shannon (Will and Grace).
People We Meet on Vacation premieres on Netflix on January 9, 2026.
