PS Plus September 2025 free PS4 and PS5 games release date, line-up and final warning

Some great games are coming to PS Plus in September, as Sony adds three high-profile titles to the Essentials library.

Announced last week, the September PlayStation Plus line-up is headlined by the superb Psychonauts 2. That’s on top of PS4 and PS5 games including Stardew Valley and Viewfinder.

It’s a strong line-up, and the good news is that the next wave of PS Plus Essentials have a September 2 release date, which means we’re just a few hours away from some new games to enjoy. Be warned, however, because some games are about to leave the service.

While Psychonauts 2 is arguably the highest-profile game on the list, the star of the show is undoubtedly Stardew Valley.

One of the finest ‘cozy games’ of all time, Stardew Valley sees players move to the country after inheriting a farm. You’ll spend the early days clearing out the farm and growing a few crops, before gradually earning enough money to expand your operation.

In addition to day-to-day farming tasks like watering crops, chopping wood and feeding animals, you’ll also need to ingratiate yourself with the local villagers.

You can also visit the local mines to collect minerals, go fishing, visit nearby towns and try to restore the community centre.

Viewfinder, meanwhile, is a first-person puzzle game in which players use a magical camera to manipulate the environment in order to overcome obstacles.

Finally, Psychonauts 2 is a 3D platforming adventure with a colourful art style, bags of humour and some inventive action.

“Razputin ‘Raz’ Aquato, trained acrobat and powerful young psychic, has realized his lifelong dream of joining the international psychic espionage organisation known as the Psychonauts!

“But these psychic super spies are in trouble. Their leader hasn’t been the same since he was rescued from a kidnapping, and what’s worse, there’s a mole hiding in headquarters.

“Combining quirky missions and mysterious conspiracies, Psychonauts 2 is a platform-adventure game with cinematic style and tons of customisable psychic powers.”

Unfortunately, however, it’s not all good news, because three games are leaving PS Plus Essentials on September 2.

This includes one of the best Soulslike games of all time, with Lies of P leaving the service in just a few hours.

Lies of P is a twisted take on the tale of Pinocchio, and with a little bit of Bloodborne thrown in for good measure.

Also leaving PS Plus on September 2 is Day Z, as well as My Hero One’s Justice 2. You’ll need to hurry if you want to pick up these titles before they leave.
