The UK is bracing for the end of summer as much colder weather is set to smsh into the country in mere weeks. New weather maps from WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, have revealed that temperatures are due to drop on September 5. Currently, hot weather in large parts of Britain is expected to be experienced by many through the Bank Holiday weekend and into next week
However, this is all expected to end at the beginning of September, with the new month bringing lows of 3C in some areas. The average UK temperature in September ranges between 12C and 16C, but the maps paint a much colder picture. According to WXCHARTS at around 6am on September 5, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and Scotland will be the coldest. There, temperatures could hover between 3C and 7C.
In England and Wales, areas to the north and along the west coast are expected to be the chilliest, with temperatures plunging to around 4C or 5C.
The coldest part of England is forecast to be Yorkshire, specifically around the Pennines, where it could get to 4C. In Wales, the Eryi National Park, also called Snowdonia, could be even colder at 3C.
The seven coldest cities will be: Inverness, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Cork, Dublin, and Belfast.
Separately, the Met Office long range forecast for September 5 to 19 warns of “unsettled or changeable weather” bringing wind and rain.
It reads: “Most signs indicate low pressure could dominate, and therefore unsettled or changeable weather looks more likely.
“This brings potential for periods of strong winds and spells of rain, but with spells of fair weather in between.
“Confidence through this period, however, is low. Temperatures are likely to be near to, or slightly above average overall.”
