King Charles has officially begun his annual summer retreat to Balmoral Castle and the occasion was marked with an inspection of The Royal Regiment of Scotland. The monarch, 76, received a warm welcome on August 18, as the British Army guard of honour marked his arrival at Balmoral Castle, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Prince Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, have joined King Charles at Balmoral for the Royal Family’s annual summer break, despite fresh controversy sparked by a new book by royal author Andrew Lownie. Princess Anne is also expected to join the King at Balmoral following her current sailing holiday around western Scotland with husband Sir Tim Laurence.
Prince William and Kate are also expected to join the King at the Scottish estate, continuing the family’s decades-old tradition of spending late summer at Balmoral. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain estranged from the Royal Family and will remain in California, after stepping down as working royals in 2020.

The King and Queen are expected to stay in Scotland until mid-September, when they will head to Windsor Castle to welcome Donald Trump for an official state visit.
Until then, the royal couple will enjoy time with their families at Balmoral. The King is expected to attend the Braemar Games at the start of September.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, however, remain busy with their own personal ventures. This month, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced a new “first-look” deal with Netflix. It’s a looser arrangement than their previous deal – but it disproves claims that the Sussexes and Netflix are going to completely part company.
Meghan said that she and Harry were inspired by the partnership with Netflix to “create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision”. The announcement comes ahead of the second series of the cookery show, With Love, Meghan, being screened later this month.
