The author of a new bombshell royal book has responded to reports that Prince Harry has “called in the lawyers” over claims that he left his uncle Prince Andrew with a “bloody nose”. In his new book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, author Andrew Lownie claimed that Harry, 40, and Andrew, 65, had a “fight”, which reportedly saw Harry “punch” his uncle.
Since the claim was made public after sections of the new book were published by the Daily Mail, Meghan and Harry’s lawyers have denied that such a fight happened. A statement read: “I can confirm Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make the comments he is alleged to have made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team also told NewsWeek that “a legal letter from Prince Harry’s counsel has been sent to the Mail” over the publication of such claims.
While this idea of potential upcoming legal action may cause concern for some, the author of the book seems to be unphased by this, and even made a hilarious three-word quip on Good Morning Britain on Thursday.
When asked by the show’s presenters about Harry allegedly seeking legal action, Lownie quipped: “I can’t wait.”
He also responded to the fact that Harry has denied a physical fight ever taking place. Lownie said: “Yes, well, recollections can vary as we know. I’m standing by my source and I can’t wait if he (Prince Harry) wants to pursue this as an action.”
The phrase “recollections may vary” is a clear nod to the Royal Family’s response to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, which implied a disagreement with some of the couple’s claims.
He continued: “I have to rely on what my sources tell me and this has been a trusted source right at the centre of the Royal Family.”
Lownie then described Harry and Andrew as “chalk and cheese”, and said that the pair are believed to have had two disagreements, with one being about Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle.
In the book, Lownie claimed that Andrew told his nephew that his marriage to Meghan Markle wouldn’t last more than a month.
The author also said that Andrew accused Meghan of being “an opportunist” and thought she was too old for Harry.
Andrew has not commented on such claims.
