Never throw away old coffee jars as they have clever use

Once you have used the last spoonful of instant coffee from the jar, or refilled your ‘tea, coffee, sugar’ set, it is likely that you throw away or recycle the unwanted jar. However, this ‘useless’ rubbish can actually be repurposed and used in a number of additional ways. Not only will this help reduce the amount you are wasting, but it will help you save money.

If you’re a fan of sipping on an iced coffee during the warmer months of the year, listen up. Instead of rushing out to spend extra money at a cafe – or investing in pricey glassware to sip the beverage at home – you can actually use a coffee jar instead.

All you need to do is remove the branded label from the jar, rinse it out and prepare your drink in the jar – then voila, you have a perfect iced coffee. Not only does the coffee jar look good, you can get a substantial amount in it too. It is fantastic for if you are on the go.

While you can use any jar you like, many people have been repurposing their Nescafe Gold jars – and they look great thanks to their gold lid. Plus, the lid on these jars is nice and secure, preventing any potential spilling.

A woman called @loreolesya tried this hack and gushed: “Whoever thought of using the Nescafe jars as a coffee cup is lowkey a genius.”

Another individual commented: “I’m obsessed. Didn’t know this was a thing. Definitely something I can’t live without now I’ve seen it.”

One other shared: “M&S do these soups in long thin jars and they make the best coffee jars been using them for years.”

Another fan of the trick shared how she managed to repurpose her jar. She added a hole in the lid for a straw, which is pretty clever if you ask us!

Upcycler @dreaxoxxo took the end of a drill and heated it up on a flame on her hob before poking a hol through the lid. Be mindful about being safe if you are replicating this.

One individual commented and said: “This is genius! I love it! Repurposing.” Meanwhile, another said: “Wait, that’s really cute.”

Your jars can be used for more than just for serving up an iced coffee. Just make sure you are disinfecting them fully before each use if you are eating or drinking from them.

The old jars also work as great storage for you cupboard items, like rice, pasta, beans, sugar, flour, spices, and other dry goods.

Alternatively, use a jar to store cutlery, or bathroom essentials like cotton buds. Or why not jazz up your jars with stickers or paint and use them to store items like makeup brushes, pens, pencils, or other desk supplies.

They could also work as small vases – the possibilities are endless!
