Majorca is one of the Balearic Islands in Spain and it is known for its beaches with crystal clear waters, sheltered coves and nightlife, particularly in areas like Palma and Magaluf.
The island’s sunny and hot weather in summer regularly draws in Brits looking for a European summer holiday. Lauren Jade left the UK to travel full time and is currently in Majorca.
She shares her adventures on social media and has created some travel guides to help others plan trips abroad. The 30-year-old Brit recently posted a video on TikTok giving her followers a look at an activity they might not have known about.
Lauren took her viewers along with her as she rode a vintage wooden train from Palma to Sóller. She was in awe of the beautiful sights during the one hour journey, including the Serra de Tramunta mountain range.
At the start of the clip, the full-time traveller appears to be gobsmacked as she looks out of the window with her mouth open and a hand placed on her cheek. In the caption of her post she wrote: “Majorca’s BEAUTIFUL train ride. This is the Palma to Sóller train and it traverses through the incredible Serra de Tramuntana mountains, citrus groves and tunnels carved by hand.”
Lauren showed the incredible landscapes as she passed the mountain range and bright green forests, taking in the beauty of nature. The official website for the train describes the ride as “an hour-long journey that takes you to another time and another Majorca”.
The travel content creator added: “It’s a 1-hr journey on a vintage wooden train that has been running since 1912(!) and it’s still one of the most scenic ways to explore inland Majorca. It’s perfect if you’re not renting a car as Sóller is one of the MUST visit places in Majorca you simply can’t miss.
“It drops you right in Sóller town – where you can explore and then hop on the vintage tram to Port de Sóller (which I highly recommend).” Sóller is a town near the north west coast of Majorca and it is often called the ‘Valley of the Orange Trees’ due to the many picturesque orange groves surrounding the town, which is a large part of its history and economy.
Sóller is also known for its town centre with well-preserved architecture and the scenic vintage tram, as mentioned by Lauren. The Palma to Sóller train contains a floor, walls and ceiling made of lacquered wood, as well as sash windows, gilded sconces and leather and metal seats, according to the website.
The position of the seats can be changed so passengers can choose whether to sit facing others in their group or separately, depending on the direction of travel. In the first-class wagon there is an extra element of comfort as sofas replace the seats.
Lauren advised her TikTok viewers to sit on the left side of the train when heading out of Palma for the “best views.” She also recommended booking tickets online, noting that it gets busy in summer.
The clip has garnered more than 160 comments and one user, who has visited Majorca before, admitted: “Wow I didn’t know about this and have been so many times!”
They added: “Defo on my list Thanks for sharing.” Another user exclaimed: “Absolutely one of my favourite trips! Should be on everyone’s list to visit.”
A combined ticket for the Palma to Sóller train and tram to Puerto de Sóller costs €32 (£27.68) and can be bought online.
