Storm forecast as 742-mile wall of rain smashes into UK in days | Weather | News

The UK is set to be hit with a barrage of heavy showers as weather maps have turned blue covering the majority of the nation. WXCharts predicts the wet conditions for August 4, with the rain impacting from as far as south as Plymouth to as far north as Wick in Scotland.

According to the weather maps, the expected rainfall is moving in from the Atlantic, and will sweep over across the nation throughout the day hitting almost all parts of the nation at some point of the day. Cardiff and Birmingham are two of the few cities that will have a brief break from the rainfall on August 4, before it continues moving across various parts of the nation.

By the evening time, southern England and the Midlands will be impacted the most with Somerset, Dorset, Greater London, Essex, Warwickshire being some of the counties likely to experience the heaviest rainfall.

In Scotland, towns and cities including Wick, Inverness, and Aberdeen will also welcome heavy rain but slightly less than other parts of the UK – indicated by the slight difference in shades.

While the majority of counties across the nation will be affected by the rainy conditions, a few regions including Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders, and part of Northumberland will clear up by the early evening.

According to the Met Office long range forecast for Saturday, August 2 to Monday, August 11, Scotland and Northern Ireland should expect “unsettled conditions” including rain and showers that will spread east.

However, the weather agency suggests that the wet conditions in parts of the UK will not last long.

“High pressure to the southwest of the UK will maintain drier weather across the southern half of the UK, and eastern England will also likely see much more in the way of dry and fine weather as well,” it explains.

In the meantime, Brits are predicted to experience some patchy rain for the remaining days of the week with “heavy, thundery showers” expected between Thursday and Friday, before clearing up on Saturday which will welcome “warm sunny spells.”
