‘I transformed feral cat into cuddly pet using nothing but love’

There’s nothing quite like having a pet, but all animals have different stories, with some even being rescued from abroad. No matter what your pet’s story is, it’s important to cherish them, and one man recently exposed how vital love can truly be.

Opening up about his animal on Reddit, one man said he managed to transform a “feral” cat into a totally adorable and cuddly house cat. When you know what you’re doing, and are willing to shower your pets with love, it turns out they can go a long way – and the story goes to show just how amazing pets can be when they develop a good relationship with their owners.

Sharing snaps of the cat’s transformation on social media, he showed exactly how his feline friend has changed over time. When you bring a cat home, it turns out following some simple rules could aid them in many ways.

In the post, he said: “Watch a feral cat I started feeding become a house cat, who cuddles with five people, and a 100lb dog.” Over time, you can see the cat becomes more confident after starting out enjoying spending time alone to being perched on the sofa next to a dog.

The cat becomes super cuddly and loving over time, even nestling into the dog in one picture. It really is quite heartwarming to see.

Hundreds of people have commented on the post since it was shared, and it’s clear they were all left in awe of the story. A pet admirer said love is truly “the best gift.”

One person wrote: “Her fur got significantly better in the last three pictures, nice cat haul.” Another said: “Looks like she’s queen of the house now.”

A third replied: “I am so happy she got such a happy home. I feed strays and it warms my heart to see one less cat on the street.”

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “Wonderful thing you’ve done. Chances are that she was a stray rather than feral though.”

Someone else also chimed in with: “Unlikely to be a true feral. Almost certainly had some close, positive interactions with humans in the past. Awesome that you found each other though.”

In the comments, a few people asked how long it took for the cat to get comfortable around people, and the original poster cleared a few things up. It turns out, it took a while to gain her trust.

The pet owner responded: “Couple months before I could get within 15 feet of her, then around four or five months in, she’d come right up to you, but would hiss and flip out if you moved.

“About half a year in she started letting me pet her, as long as there was food. She came inside like two weeks after I pet her for the first time. Lol.

“Was super slow to begin with, then something clicked and it all went really fast.”

As you’d probably expect, cats can gain trust when they build loving relationships with humans. When you interact with them positively and show them affection, they can learn to love you.
