Prince George is marking his 12th birthday today, and he will undoubtably be made to feel extra special by his family – including his adoring parents and younger sister and brother. The young royal was born on July 22, 2013 – with his arrival giving the title of mum and dad to the Prince William and Princess Kate.
The Wales family is typically known to spend their children’s school holidays at their Norfolk-based home, Anmer Hall, so this could be where George is celebrating his special day today. The family will likely be gearing up to travel to Scotland later this month to join King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Balmoral estate.
Here, the Express takes a look back at George’s life with 13 pictures of him across the years, from an adorable royal baby to a pre-teen prince.
Three months after his birth, Prince George was christened on October 23, 2018 at St James’s Palace in London. William’s close friend Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, was selected as George’s godparent, alongside Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Julia Samuel, Zara Tindall (William’s cousin) and William van Cutsem. Holding their son, Kate and William appeared delighted to be celebrating the birth of George.

Just weeks shy of his second birthday, George made his debut at the annual Trooping the Colour in June 2015. The young royal, who had recently taken on the role as big brother following the birth of Princess Charlotte the month earlier, wore a sky blue shirt with white frills and matching shorts that appeared identical to the outfit William wore, aged two, in 1984. The historic day marked the first time the late Queen, the now-King Charles, Prince William and Prince George have all appeared in public together.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were pictured with Prince George and Princess Charlotte in Canada in October 2016. The family was based in Victoria, British Columbia, during the visit, which marked Charlotte’s first official royal tour. George, then aged three, was dressed in a navy jumper, red shorts, and navy socks. Joined by his sister, George waved excitedly to the crowd and seemed fascinated by a military guard of honour. But he was on his best behaviour and held onto his father’s hand.
