Prince George is set for a year of big change ahead, with this likely to bring with it some emotion for Prince William and Princess Kate as they watch their oldest son grow up. With the royal set to turn 12 on Tuesday, George is edging closer to his teenage years.
Not only will this no doubt mean more independence for the young prince, but it also means a massive change is in store when it comes to his education. While he is currently enjoying the school summer holidays with his siblings Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, returning back to Lambrook School in September is likely to be bittersweet.
This is because George will be starting his final year at the school in Berkshire, which he has attended alongside his siblings since the family moved to Windsor in 2012.
After this next school year, the future King will have to move on to another school, with the chosen one yet to be announced by Kensington Palace.
While it is believed George will start at Eton College in 2026, the same school his father Prince William boarded at, this has not been officially announced.
It has now been reported that an announcement is likely to be made at the eleventh hour next year to protect George’s privacy and to stop upheaval around his future school, which could interrupt other students.
This is something which happened when William and Kate’s children started at Lambrook in 2022, with Melanie Sanderson, the managing editor of The Good Schools Guide, stating that the news the children would be educated at the school “changed its dynamic”.
