A scenic seaside town has been ranked as one of the UK’s quieter and more affordable destinations to enjoy a break this summer. Named by Which? as one of the cheapest seaside staycations, it’s worth a trip to this beautiful spot in Wales.
Which? says: “Llandudno was rated as one of the top 10 seaside towns in the country but the average hotel room rate is just £93 – half the price of Salcombe.” Llandudno is home to beautiful coastal views and it’s even the site of the longest pier in Wales. There’s a range of activities for you to do in the area from water sports to hikes or even just enjoying its quiet beaches.
Taking a hike to the summit of the Great Orme is one of the most popular things to do while in the area.
One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “Beautiful views, made better on a dry day. Came up on the tram, then got to wander around the summit. Stayed for a bit and looked all around the area. Fantastic.”
Another penned: “A powerful place that I immediately fell in love with. Whether you look at the great mountain or the vast sea, the view is breath-taking.
“I plan to return and explore it more when I am better equipped. I cannot recommend highly enough for anyone who is even the slightest bit curious, photos cannot do it justice.”
But this is not the only thing to do while you’re there. You can also visit the town’s promenade which offers a walk along the seafront and is excellent for spending some time in the open air and in tranquillity.
The area during weekends and public holidays is filled with activities for everybody like small concerts, the Bandstand or water sports.
There’s also the Home Front Museum which is a fascinating place to visit while in the area. The indoor attraction allows its visitors to experience the sights and sounds of civilian life during the Second World War.
Finally, taking a stroll along West Shore beach is a must-do and you’ll have the opportunity to look out into the ocean or admire the mountains inland from here.
If you’re looking for an affordable holiday destination this summer, Llandudno could be the perfect place for you.
