King Charles seen laughing after TV stars break royal protocol | Royal | News

King Charles was spotted laughing with two TV stars at a reception last month after they broke royal protocol. Just weeks ago on June 26, the monarch, 76, invited a number of celebrity stars involved with his charity – The King’s Trust – to a reception held at Buckingham Palace.

The reception, which was held especially for the annual King’s Trust Awards ceremony, saw a number of well-known faces gather at the Palace, including ex Former Made in Chelsea stars Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing, who are married and expecting their first child together. However, the couple have revealed that when it was their time to meet the King during the reception, not everything was smooth-sailing.

Speaking on their Nearly Parents podcast this week, Sophie revealed that she broke royal protocol by continuously offering her hand to the King to shake.

This is despite the fact attendees had been instructed to wait for the King to offer his hand first.

Sophie was believed to have been left “mortified” by her mistake, as reported by GB News.

Speaking on the podcast, Jamie said: “He (King Charles) kept looking towards Sophie. And as soon as he went towards Sophie, Sophie put her hand up — five times.

“And then what happened was, the last time he turned towards Sophie, she put out her hand — she didn’t withdraw it. She just held it there. She just held it there and didn’t move it.”

Sophie said she made the mistake as she was “buckling” under pressure.

While many may think there would be strict consequences for breaking this protocol, the monarch reportedly seemed unfazed by this and instead shared a nice conversation with the couple.

A sweet photograph from the event shows the three sharing a laugh together, however it is not confirmed whether this came about as a result of Sophie’s protocol blunder.

This is not the only rule the pair broke during their royal visit, with the couple also filming themselves doing their own version of the Baby Mama dance inside Buckingham Palace, and posting this on social media. The Royal Family’s official social media account replied good-naturedly to the video, suggesting that all was forgiven.
