King Charles has been dubbed “King Cool” today as he was spotted litter-picking on a popular beach during the latest UK heatwave.
The monarch, 76, was all smiles as he joined the community beach clean-up initiative along the coastline in Deal, Kent.Although not wearing the usual beach attire of swim shorts and sliders, the King seemed to keep cool in his beige suit, along with a white shirt and tie. He also sported his trendy sunglasses as he made his way along the beach picking up litter. At one point, the King – who used a litter pick for the majority of the clean – was seen bending down to retrieve a discarded plastic bottle with his hand, putting it in a bin bag held by a volunteer beside him.
As pictures of the monarch appeared online this afternoon, many could not help but praise the King for taking part in such an initiative.
One fan wrote on X: “I adore him,” while another said: “Love it so much.”
Someone else on the social media platform commented: “King Cool.”
Elsewhere on his visit to Kent today, the monarch visited the Walmer lifeboat station where he met Andrew Holland, Victoria Ward, Dan Sinclair and James Foster.
The four were awarded the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s Thanks of the Institution award for their bravery and dedication to saving lives at sea.
King Charles also toured Walmer Castle, which was built as a device port by Henry VIII between 1539-40 to protect English from possible invasion by Catholic Europe.
The monarch’s trip to the seaside town comes after a busy week, which saw him host French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife as part of the French state visit to the UK.
