With extreme heat on the way, you’ll need to keep your home cool where you can and there’s one unexpected way you can reduce heat levels. In your home, you should limit hot activities and using a dishwasher let off out more heat than you might realise, which is not ideal for keeping your home cool.

BBC reports: “Ovens and cookers emit a lot of heat into the home during and after their use. Sticking to cold foods such as salads – especially during the hottest times of the day – can stop unnecessary heat being generated.

“Other appliances, such as washing machines and dishwashers, can also produce heat so try not to use them when it is hottest.”

Heat exhaustion can also be brought on by high humidity so it is worth reducing this where you can around your home.

Latest weather forecasts predict scorching temperatures will hit the UK this weekend.

According to the Met Office, up to 30C will be seen on Saturday in the UK with Brits looking for ways to keep cool in the heatwave.

The Met Office forecast says: “Dry with plenty of sunshine. Becoming very warm or hot through the period with some uncomfortable warm nights by the weekend.”

Maps from WXCHARTS show blazing temperatures will be seen over the weekend.

Hottest areas will be on the border between Wales and England with around 30C to 31C estimated in the area.

In London, temperatures will reach 30C and large swathes of the UK will see temperatures of above 25C.

By 3pm, maps show the UK is covered with red indicating intense heat.

In warm weather, it’s important to stay cool and keeping your home at a low temperature is a crucial part in staying comfortable and safe in hot temperatures.
