To complete her regal look, Kate opted to wear the Lover’s Knot Tiara – a much-loved tiara of the late Queen and Princess Diana.
Adding regal distinction to her attire for the evening, the Queen wore the Légion d’Honneur sash of France, the Garter Star, and His Majesty The King’s Family Order.
Kate, who officially joined the Royal Family in 2011, was also pictured sporting the King Charles III Order for the first time – an honour that was first sported by Queen Camilla at the Japanese State Banquet last year.
The future Queen’s attendance at the evening event was only confirmed by Kensington Palace just hours before, as her participation in major events continued to be confirmed at the last minute, as she continues to safeguard her health following her cancer battle.
Kate hasn’t appeared at the Japanese State Banquet last year due to her cancer diagnosis at the start of 2024.
A State Banquet for approximately 170 people is held on the first night of a State Visit.
Family Orders – like the ones worn by Kate and Camilla – are badges that are traditionally worn at formal evening occasions by female members of the Royal Family.
