Emma Raducanu has tipped people off about a great artist for ‘heartbreak songs’, adding they are the one to turn to if you are ever ‘going through it’. The Wimbledon star has never publicly announced a relationship, although romance rumours have swirled around her and Carlos Alcaraz since they began spending more time together earlier this summer.
Raducanu was watched by the singer Olivia Rodrigo from the Royal Box during her second-round win over Marketa Vondrousova on Wednesday. That victory set up a mouth-watering third-round meeting with world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, before which Raducanu spoke to the BBC about her tournament so far.
When asked whether she was aware of Rodrigo watching on, she said: “No. She’s got some great heartbreak songs. If you’re ever going through it, she’s the one [laughs]. I wouldn’t know though! Of course not.”
Even BBC host Clare Balding was a tad suspicious about Raducanu backtracking on her ‘heartbreak’ comment, saying: “I think she suddenly thought, have I given something away there?!”
