Gorgeous house is on market for £475k – but there’s problem

A stunning Grade II listed residence has just hit the market with a price tag of £475,000. The charming historical dwelling, located in Somerset, initially grabbed home hunters because it looks so idyllic.

As shown by Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s listing, the majestic property boasts two bedrooms and studio annex, not forgetting an additional two-bedroom holiday let and an impressive six acres of woodland.

Spread over three levels, the main building radiates timeless allure with rustic wooden beams, captivating exposed brickwork and generous windows that bathe the interior with daylight.

The only problem? The Clevedon house sits directly beneath the M5 motorway, a constant artery of transport linking the South West to the Midlands, spelling persistent noise pollution.

After reading more about the unique dwelling’ location, one commenter was quick to express doubt. They said: “Surely sleep is impossible.”

Equally troubled was another individual, who confessed: “I would live in constant irrational fear that a car would land on my house.”

Meanwhile, a third critic added: “Beautiful property but couldn’t get past the M5 being above.”

However, some viewed the price as a steal considering the property’s charm, with one observer noting: “Not being funny that property would be double if it wasn’t under the M5.”

Echoing the sentiment, another stated: “Without the M5 it would be like the perfect house.”

Yet others stood up for the location, countering with the argument that the sound may fade into the background with time.

One local downplayed the disturbance, insisting: “The noise isn’t that bad, you get used to it.”

Meanwhile, a cheeky commenter joked: “In all fairness the M5 is at a standstill most weeks so probably not that noisy.”

Despite the obvious drawback, the property is bound to get some interest. Aside from the motorway, Clevedon is a really picturesque place.

Tourists often flock to the location. Top sites include the Victorian pier, National Trust property of Clevdon Court and The Marine Lake.
