How Meghan and Harry could grow their influence in the US – expert | Royal | News

One PR expert has revealed how he believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could grow their influence in the US.

Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan Markle, 43, have resided in California since 2020. The couple – who wed in 2018 – now live in a multi-million-pound mansion with their two children in the heart of Montecito.

Describing their story since being in the US as “complicated”, Go Up’s CEO of marketing Edward Coram-James has revealed some ways that the couple can grow their influence in America – even hinting that a return to acting from Meghan could be beneficial.

He told Express.co.uk: “In the US, the story around Meghan and Harry is a bit more complicated. While they’ve faced some criticism, Meghan, in particular, has become a symbol of resilience.

“Many Americans relate to her journey of stepping away from the monarchy and the press. Harry’s openness about mental health also resonates, especially in a country that values being transparent about personal struggles.”

Speaking of the steps – and things – Meghan and Harry could do, he said they should take into consideration what Americans will want to see.

He suggested: “To grow their influence in the US, they should focus on topics that matter to Americans, like mental health, social justice, and entertainment.”

Mr Coram-James also suggested individual things that the pair could do, adding: “Meghan could lean into acting or creative ventures, and Harry could branch out into new platforms like podcasts.”

He also warned that the couple should be careful of one thing, adding: “But they should be careful not to overexpose themselves – Americans love an underdog, but they’re not big fans of preachiness.”

This comes as the couple have received criticism from royal fans following the release of Netflix’s new trailer for Harry’s show, ‘Polo’.

The show will be released on the streaming service on December 10. Netflix’s new trailer saw several royal fans criticise the show over animal cruelty.

According to a tweet by the streaming service, both Meghan and Harry are listed as executive producers of Polo.
